MASSAGE THERAPY

Massage therapy is involves a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain. It is a clinically-oriented health option that achieves undeniable results in the relief of an array of discomforts stemming from stress, muscular overuse and many chronic pain syndromes.

Techniques Include:

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a hands-on manipulation of the body’s soft tissues and can be applied to all major muscle groups in the body. Swedish massage can increase one’s flexibility as it stretches the ligaments and tendons, and is specifically designed to relax the muscles. It also helps flush the body tissues of uric and lactic acid and other metabolic waste. The Swedish massage techniques are the basis for other types of (Western) massages, such as aromatherapy and sports massage.

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. During the treatment we use soothing continuous pressure with our palms, thumbs and elbows. Pressure is adjusted to the client’s comfort and can range from light and gentle to strong and vigorous.

Passive stretching is sometimes performed on tight joints. You lie on a massage table and get stretched. It is a very penetrative but at the same time non-invasive massage.

*Treatments are done in loose comfortable clothing. No lotions, scents or oils are used.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic Drainage massage activates and drains the lymph from the body. The Lymphatic System is responsible for “draining & sorting” the toxins in the body and is manually ‘activated’ through massage. This “light tissue” massage creates a highly relaxing and soothing treatment. The major benefits of a lymph drainage massage is detoxification, which will help to clear blemished skin, eliminate cellulite, losing weight, strengthen the immune system, treats pain and improves energy.
